Safety & Health

Yes. Our camps are nestled deep in the wilderness, surrounded by the sights and sounds of wildlife. During the hours of darkness askaris (night watchmen) will accompany you safely to and from your tent by torchlight, while during the day you are free to wander around camp at your leisure. As evening falls, you may hear the sounds of the bush coming alive — unfamiliar sounds that reflect the animals’ nighttime activity. Rest assured, you are completely safe and secure within your tent.

We recommend consulting your doctor. Yellow fever, typhoid, and malaria precautions are common for this region.

While we take mosquito precautions seriously, we are in a malaria zone and recommend prophylaxis.

We recommend that you take the advice of your medical practitioner when considering anti-malarial medication.

Our tents are designed with netted windows and doors, and our staff will take precautions against mosquitos during ‘turn-down’ service in the evenings.

We would also encourage you to wear long sleeves and trousers in the evenings, with socks and closed shoes, and recommended the use of insect repellant.

We have a comprehensive first aid kit and emergency evacuation arrangements via flying doctors if needed.

Travel insurance covering medical evacuation and cancellations is a requirement of your stay.  It is the responsibility of each guest to ensure this is in place.
